get a plastic owl or raptor.

Ditto that plastic owl - they work. Flags or anything that moves in the wind will also help.

we tried the plastic owl, it works for a short while, but they keep on coming back. But anybody tried the ultrasonic frequencies ??

I tried a homemade ultrasonic sweep with about 10 watts feeding a piezo tweeter for squirrels in an attic and it worked very well.

Never tried one for birds but have seen plenty of commercial/industrial units for sale. One thing they all seem to have in common is high power 20-30 KHZ outputs. One company is selling a compressed air driven ultrasonic noisemaker.

You know . . . they don't just sit around discussing where they will s*it and then dive bomb the deck . . . so there must be a good roosting area for them - get rid of that or make it impossible for them to roost and you will fix the problem.

My neighbours next door has one for keeping the rabbits our of their garden that has a motion detector built in.

It works quite well.

The only down side is that my much younger sister can hear it when it goes off and it drives her nuts!! (Of course I am old enough to be deaf to frequencies that high!)

Tthe neighbour behind me has an Owl whose head moves in the wind (kind of like those bobble head dolls). He uses it to keep the birds of the deck around his pool.
