If you get a big enough one and a big bank of batteries, yes... but it's going to be a lot more expensive than just buying a gasoline or diesel generator.

I'm assuming you mean incadescent floop lamps here. If you switch to fluorescents, although the initial cost will be a bit higher, you'd typically only need ~1/3 as much power -- 2kW -- and now you're talking a sub-US$500 generator, plus of course you'll save on the cost of fuel.

Why do you need it illuminated? How much illumination is really needed? CCDs don't need much light to work. HPS lamps would probably be a lot more cost effective provided that colour rendering was not a high priority.

I would also urge you to install full cutoff lighting that directs the light onto the area being lit and not into the sky.

Almost certainly not unless you are talking to a slimy salesman. It is usually only worth considering wind solar power if either you have no direct grid connection or someone is daft enough to give you a grant to install one.

Most of the "wind farms" where I live are installed solely to claim the installation grants. 2 out of 3 are feathered and/or unserviceable most of the time. The only exception is the Nissan car plant which has about half a dozen and keeps about 5 running continuously (provided there is some wind). They also had one catch fire spectacularly closing the nearby arterial trunk road.

What kind of lamps. 500 watts does not sound like what you want.
