Uncontrolled document as a data sheet?

Aug 15, 2006 20 Replies

I first came across "Uncontrolled Document" about 30 years ago in the US military. There it has the specific meaning that that particular copy was not on the list or recipients for regular updates as it received revisions from the control authority for that document. Thus all published datasheets in the electronics industry are "uncontrolled documents" in that sense. Not even the latest datasheet from the web site is guaranteed to be correct for the devices of any particular lot. ISTR some manufacturers use rev. letters to mitigate this.
