Demo of various noise signals added to a sinewave. With the picture of the scope screen.

In real life, directly from the gadget, it's totally inaudible to me.

The other thing I found interesting is that the "Gaussian noise", which is actually a repeated (single-cycle pattern) of random values superimposed over the main sinewave, doesn't sound a bit random.

Interesting how change in phase of second harmonic distortion was noticable. Well to my ears anyway, unless there were some other unintentinal changes too, or maybe it shows up peculiarities in the mp3 compresion.

Try compress music by Jean Michael Jarre into mp3. And you will notice the flaws of mp3 ;) I had to set bitrate to 256 kbps before it sounded properly.

I absolutely, definitely, totally refuse to use Realplayer. It's on the top of my list of the most annoying spamwares of all time.
