Screw Behind Mantis

There's an adjustment screw behind the older(previous gen) mantis dynascope. This model:

What's that screw for? When I was cleaning lenses, I noticed that this screw tilts a mirror.

btw...I was investigating and turned the screw to the point of 'boing!'. The mirror and screw have separated.. I have to take the mantis apart again to reattach.. :(

The side adjustment is for eye separation. The back adjustment (just a screw) I suspect is for horizontal alignment. (People generally don't have one eyeball higher than the other..)

It took me an hour to fix. :( Yup.. It's a mirror adjustment screw that is not meant to be loosened too much otherwise it detaches from the mirror. But also, I discovered there seems to be a missing metal clamp that helps to hold the same mirror in place. One side of the mirror has a fastener clamp, the other side doesn't. (The mirror holder is loosely screwed into slotted plastic.. Bad..) (Missed assembly at factory, this was tampered with before or the clamp popped off and I can't find it.) So the only thing keeping the mirror from falling was 1 screw!

Fixed both problems.. Works fine.
