Those prices and stock figures may not be real. There is widespread use of something called "dynamic pricing," a profit optimization strategy. Going incognito may or not help. But if everything you look at is consistently high-priced and in scarce supply, something is amiss.

I research parts for new designs. Digikey is a decent multi-vendor search engine, but I do notice their predatory pricing practices.

We engineers want to specify parts that are available, have several equivalents, and are reasonably priced. And are likely to be available long-term.
