I once had a two-line phone, with buttons for "line 1", "line 2", and "conference", which connected them together. But these were lines from the same telco's own switching station, so there would be no problem just clipping them together.

But if you're dealing with two different telcos, please call them first (maybe ask for a conference call ;-) ) and ask what they'd recommend.

I've used a BT Converse 2025 with a BT line on one port and a Sipgate VoIP line on the other and it worked fine.

I currently use a PBX which performs the same functions but the 2025 can be had very cheaply on eBay and is probably the OP's best bet (no I'm not selling one..!)

Not that I recall. Although ISTR there was a bit of mains hum from somewhere.
