OT: Eversource

Currently staying with a relative at a senior housing complex. Power had been out here for about ten hours after what appeared to be a pole pig explosion. There were two guys here in a bucket truck earlier mucking around for a few hours and then left. Now it's 12:30 AM, and there's a single worker here in a bucket truck. I talked with him for a few minutes and you can totally tell that he's winging it and has no idea what the real problem is.

Calls to the power company outage hotline are being bounced to voicemail.

Oh, and that one guy just left as I'm writing this.

He came back a little while later and continued working. At about 1 AM something exploded out by the street, the remaining lighting that was being powered by a backup generator went down, and fire alarms started sounding across the complex.

I guess that got someone's attention, as shortly thereafter most of the town fire department and about a half dozen utility trucks showed up. Power was back on by 2 AM.
