I think you misunderstand the terms. I believe Robert is offering it for free to anyone would would like to develop the idea. I don't think you even need to make any commitment, just don't reveal the idea to others who might give it to the big players.

The idea was a switcher as replacement to the big HEAVY transformer seen in all microwave ovens.

Yeah, just make sure and do a thorough googlin' about an idea... chances are it's already been done, but you never know unless you look.
"Inverter microwave" and "switching supply microwave" turn up interesting results, with patent 5171949 (1992!) being the first such hit.

The latest of solid state microwave ovens completely eliminate any big heavy transformers.
Thus, the problem no longer exists.
For ummm some value of 'latest'.. Panasonic has had their inverter microwave ovens in production for 5 or 10 years now. Also licenced to GE. They're a fair bit lighter than the old (highly optimized) transformer types (which used very little iron for the power they put out- cost rather than efficiency optimized).
The inverter types use resonant converter technology which is the only sensible choice at that high an output voltage. I believe there are some moderately interesting patents but it's been so very long since they came out I can't remember.

There was a thread right here on SED back in August of 2000(!) at the time someone here had purchased one- I think Robert posted some links to patents for the quasi-resonant inverter technology.

This would only have been of possible use to microwave oven manufacturers. The concept of going from 50Hz transformer to smpsu is an obvious one, and is normally avoided on grounds of cost. This is how it goes with most ideas , even if novel they normally have no financial value.

Except when total cost of SMPS is lower than 50Hz transformer. Which it likely is, when costs are carefully calculated.
You mention $14 for the MHT1003N, 2450MHz, 250W LDMOS, but Avnet quotes $112, qty 10k.
You will not find it in a $29.95 700W microwave oven, and I'm fairly sure the costs are _very_ carefully calculated in such a product.
