LED Driver recomendations

Mar 10, 2008 1 Replies

Hi all, I am looking for a high power led driver for the following:

3 identical led's in series with a total forward voltage of 11volts

constant current drive 800-1200ma

Input source is a 12Vrms AC with > 10Amp drive capability (Can not use a DC supply for this application)

Can anyone recommend an led driver or perhaps a manufacture to start with?

Thanks, James

Rectify & filter the input, feed it to the input of an LM317. Install a 3 ohm & 2 ohm in parallel from Vout to Adj of the 317 and take your output from Adj. That'll give you 1 amp cc. A 1 ohm in place of the parallel resistors will give you 1200 mA, or use parallel

3 ohm resistors for 800 mA. Use 2 watt or bigger resistors.
