Lascar Electronics has a good range. Not < $10.00 though.

Not < $10.00 though.

E*ay! (from China of course) . Search on "LCD panel meter". There's about 82 hovering on the $10 mark. (The Blue ones look really good on a panel).
Huhhh.. E*bay again.... :( Well...I guess I don't have to think about winning the bid or getting sniped on this stuff. I suspect the seller has mountain loads of these modules..
Cool :) Blue LED voltage modules too :)
China it is....What a price??
I hope I don't get a note in the package that says "Help me..Me 10 yer old. I trapped in bottom of Fang Gu elecktroniks company. I get beated if I do not assemble..please help" :P

Had a similar natural hesitation/reticence a couple of years ago. So had a trial buy of a TV card for the PC. Price was so cheap I ended up thinking "to hell with it" and risked the few dollars it cost. Turned up 7 days later and I've been buying from over there ever since. I've spent many thousands of dollars with absolutely no problems. Just bought a load of stuff. One item was ...

I go out of my way not to buy stuff from China. It isn't easy nowadays.
Let's see. Tariff for a Chinese car entering the US.: 2%. Tariff for a US car entering China: 20%
More evidence of the incompetence of the Bushies, as if you needed any more.
Just beware that almost all the "budget" types cannot operate properly with a supply rail common to the measured circuit. That leaves you needing to provide

Yes that is so. My own soultion to these things is a bit different: Use for example *one* 2 line ASCII LCD with backlight, and a 2$ PIC: --------------- |10.22V 1.38A | |14.1036W cloudy| ---------------
'cloudy', well if you have 4 input channels...
In one corner... weighing in at $4 + $10.00 shipping is the Asian voltage module.
In the other corner...weighting in at ?? display cost and $2.00 for a PIC + shipping is the DIY PIC voltage module.
Round 1
PIC throws the first punch... Pow! Few code changes are required as Microchip has public examples for display and acquisition..
Asian module fights back with "Ready to use" punch ..Pow!
PIC module staggers a bit.., dances around..2 punches Pow! Pow! The PIC can get the job of doing any other logic needed.
...and so on and so on...

you've missed the point entirely. If you plan on using one of these (milli-)volt DPM's on your bench power supply, you need to fart around generating an isolated power source for it. That is both time and money.
Game over.

Well, depends, one pot core, 1 transistor, 3 caps, 1 resistor, some turns, and 12 turns + 1 diode + 1 elco for each meter. But if you wanted 'backlight' then also you likely want 'V' (volt), or mV, or 'A'(ampere), or mA displayed with light. This is one more reason I use the 2 line ASCII displays, it shows the units. Else you need to make a frontpanel with floodlight....? Not to mention other messages, like 'in current limit', etc. A human oriented user interface is a big seller.
Back to the match :-)

However, as someone pointed out, how are you going to power them?

I'd probably use a $1.00 linear supply (wallwart) from the local thrift(junk) store.
