Claim is 20% reduction of CO2 emissions- and of course that depends- on a lot of things. Japanese are installing them on their K Line.'ll need this and more. The U.S. has the Clean Shipping Act of 2022 in the works. Some interesting statistics about it here.

A kite surfer is pulled by the kite. A diesel power ship is only assisted. If the ship is powered at 15 knots, and the wind is 15 knots from, sheer luck, dead astern, the kite falls into the water.

Windmills are stationary, so any wind is relative wind.
