In the UK, if you are in a wheel chair and the mains trips you have to phone a friend-with-a-ladder to come and reset it provided you know the secret place where it's hidden. And no wonder, even the name "consumer unit" is heavy with utilitarian ugliness.
The Italian equivalent is right there, in front of you mounted at chest height, flush in the wall, behind a smoked plastic cover designed by a someone called Ferrari or Armani or some other Romantic.
The light switches are similarly designed (the outdoor version is the same + a polythene membrane) and set at sane door-handle height.
Finally the mains outlets don't have an earth. In the UK we waste copper, time and money on arcane domestic earthing configurations (partly to stop said earth *becoming* part of the problem).
