You can't heat this stuff, else things could disintegrate immediately or worst case later. Parts coming off while in a coronary blood vessel would be a major situation.
I don't think anyone in their right mind will because that would mean major lawsuits waiting to happen. There are some devices for larger blood vessels that can be sterilized but I am not in favor of that and would not want to be involved in the design of those.
Yes. Aside from semiconductors in this case, there are also bonding materials in there. An engineer is rather restricted in the choice of materials for such products because of biocompatibility and sterility requirements.
