Dual link DVI

Hi,

In dual link DVI, there are two channels for each colors (red, green and blue). Channel 0/channel 3 for Red, channel 1/channel 4 for green and channel 2/channel 5 for blue. From my understanding for a single link DVI or VGA, the frame is sent line by line basis.

My question is the second channel of RGB is that a continuation of the line, say if the resolution was 2560 x 1600, I imagine the first channel will be the first 1280 and the second channel for the next

1280.

Normally, the pixels are alternated. The first channel carries the even pixels along the line, and the second, the odd. However the second link can also be used to carry extra bits for the individual pixels (where more than 24bits per pixel are wanted at a slower dot rate), and then the first link carries the high bits, and the second, the low.

Best Wishes
