Italian 12" porcelain tiles from Lowes. We should have used a darker grout though, it gets dirty rather quickly because of our large dogs. Also, while the "distressed look" makes for a great appearance dirt gets into those little crevices on the tiles and we had to buy a little machine to clean that.

Nice. I also have those exact tiles in my basement. ;)

Yeah, white grout is for bathrooms. The only other place I like tile is a foyer, and that needs something like slate. Lighter colors just don't work, IMO.

Can't dispute that. But, I am married ...

I put it down, so get veto power. Sometimes a pocket veto, but a veto none the less. ;-)

Wife says my color vision is barely adequate for resistor codes. OTOH I am not the guy who has to scrub this stuff, mostly because the tiles would then most certainly not reach the specified spiffiness level ;-)

SWMBO bought some paint for the house but wasn't there when I opened it. It was supposed to be pink, I knew, but Pepto Bismol pink? Whatever, I put it up in the family room and made her look at it for the next seven or eight years (with comments from the peanut gallery, of course). That was the last gallon of paint she got to pick out. I do the painting, too.

If I picked her up, I suppose I'd better put her down, eventually. Hmm, come to think of it, she...
