Cyanoacrylate on Ferrite

I'm gluing uncoated ferrite and I'm almost out of glue. I got this CA glue (Titan brand) from Home Depot and well...I have no idea if this stuff is appropriate and it's probably around $1.00 per mL.

Huh... stabilizers that increase shelf life that reduce bond performance. Wonder if that's something to still watch out for.

I'd like to do better than Home Depot. Where do I get a better CA glue for ferrite? iirc CA has a shelf life and so I don't want to order a train load. Perhaps a few ~10mL tubes for the freezer... Note: I need a CA viscosity for minimal gap yet still overcome the ferrite porosity.

if you want better CA glues,go to a hobby shop and get the kits they use. they have IRC,3 different viscosity CA glues, and they also have accellerator for the CA to make it bond faster.

Porosity? Ferrite?

I used to do it years ago, seems to have worked fine. Depends on the application I suppose. We did it with pot cores. A great big glob of hot melt might help too. Worst case, you can always use acetone to dissolve the CA if you want to start over.

Uncoated. iirc.. I saw a microscope picture showing the surface roughness of ferrite core material.. And perhaps I read some blurp on porosity.. Foggy memory on that. I'm guessing the porosity is due to surface roughness. It's not like a sponge. (Maybe alittle?..but guessing not.) I suppose some adhesive volume is used in filling between the microgaps in the surface. Then more adhesive is needed for the bond. More adhesive further if greater gap is needed. Clues to ferrite surface roughness(porosity): Low sheen, gets glossy when coated, feels chalky.

I like CA fro ferrite. No mix, fast initial bond, thin bond line, seems to bond to ferrite very well, good wetting. The only thing that might be a bug is if the CA can't handle the heat from the magnetics and the ferrite heat expansion/contraction changes from the heat.

Power Integrations actually recommend it IIRC in one or more of their app notes.
