Chinese SN76477N sound generator IC quality?

Have a project that is going to involve using the '477 IC sound chip. I already have an original, unused one in my junk bin, but I'd rather use another. On eBay, I see prices varying widely with the cheapest ones coming out of China. While I am tempted to go for one of the Chinese ones, I'm wondering about the quality, so if anyone has insight, it would be welcome.

Thanks in advance, Jon

I haven't used the SN76477 but I do use ICs and other parts direct from China. My experience so far is that they're mostly OK. The only time I had cause for complaint was with a small batch of CMOS logic gates that were slightly leaky and sometimes behaved erratically in a high impedance circuit.

Buy both. Get a cheap chinese version and get one of the other candidates and proof your circuit (and the chips) with them, then when you like what you have, try to get another 'original' to use in the finished circuit.

I have found some valid chips in China, but a lot of crap too. Buy one to test if you are thinking volume...

For $10US it isn't a big risk.
