Yes. Something like Fig 10b but with a stack like Fig 13, but 10 tall.

I have 4.7k B-E on the bottom transistor, and 4.7pF across it C-E (to prime it to trigger).

I may cut open the top B-E instead and use that for triggering; it occurs to me, that side has the least AC, so will put the least stress on a coupling transformer as well. Aside from DC, but that's easy. ;-)

Are you going to build more than one of these? Back in the day, the rumor was that all the vendor out of spec rejects went into a pile that got labeled as 2N3904. Can you expect any consistency at all from them?

Modern 3904s are pretty consistent. Probably all the s***ty old hardware has become more valuable as scrap, and whatever legacy systems are surviving are the ones making stuff like GP BJTs.

Why not just use the right transistor ? You can probably get a 2SC5150 for less than a buck no that the demand has declined.

They don't avalanche very strongly, or reliably.
