68hc908 timer resolution

Hi to all

It is about 68hc908JL3CP

Using Code Warrior special edition it looks that one of the so called beans(FreeCntr16) dedicated to the TIM timer it is able to set the resolution at 1ms,when the Xtal frequency is 4.096 MHz

I can't understand how it is possible,if the internal bus clock is FXtal/4,and the max prescaler value is 64

so the TIM should increase its value at a rate of 4096/(64*4)=16KHz,right?

Compiling it some code is generated and not only registers settings, but it seems tho me fighting with the definition of free counter, something that increases independently from the code

Can someone explain me how it works, please?

Thank you .
