I know someone whose husband has dementia but is reasonably highly functioning, e.g. he can read with reading glasses. Unfortunately, he is constantly losing his glasses and hearing aids because he puts them down when outside the home and then forgets about them. It is very expensive to keep replacing them.
I know that there are things called "locators" that help people remember where they put their keys and I know that people routinely ask their cars to tell them where they parked the car. So, I'm wondering what kinds of devices might be available to help people remember where they put their glasses and hearing aids. The ones at Radio Shack for keys are much too big for this purpose.
In this husband's case, the device wouldn't be used by him but by his wife, so she can make sure the glasses and hearing aid haven't been left behind before they leave any location. For glasses, this seems like it should be reasonably easy. In the case of the hearing aid, a loud noise emitted by the device is probably not a good idea, but maybe it could be smart enough to figure out whether it is in the ear and to emit light in that case, and only to emit noise when it is outside the ear.
If you know of such devices that would work with glasses and hearing aids, please let me know.
