I am looking for a switcher like the LM2734, but with current feedback. The LM2734 has fixed 1.7Amp current limiting but I would like to use an external sense resistor to adjust the cycle by cycle current limit.

Linear Technology has a few switcher chips that have adjustable current limit.
The LT1618 has lots of control. There are others where you can adjust the current sense resistor to limit cycle by cycle current if you use an external pass transistor.
