Re: OT: Ping JL

The homeless people here certainly don't see that $100K.

That was the entire gist of the article! :-D

NY has plenty of great sit-down foodie food that's cheap. I was just looking for Korean fried wings and there are just too many places nearby to ever try them all. And they're very cheap and most are open until 2 or 3 am.

SF has a lot of great food, for maybe 1/2 the price of LA. Why buy the $60 half duck at The Morris when I can get the $9 Twice Cooked Duck plate at Regent Thai? The beer is 1/4 the price too.

But SF goes to bed at 9:30 if that. It's not a nighthawk town like NYC.

I couldn't live in a place where I can't buy shoes at 3am.

But it has been 25 years since I had stuffed chicken wings. Every time I find a new Thai place I ask if they make it. Sometimes they say they used to but it's too time consuming to debone the wings and stuff them. I keep looking.

I'm also disappointed when they don't have Thai script in the menu. It's the most beautiful script in the world.

And try "mock eel" if you find a Chinese place that makes it. It's actually mushrooms and it's super. Chinese vegetarian restaurants have it because they have all kinds of meat substitutes, but a few regular Chinese places make it also.

No problem. Amazon is always open. Everywhere. It's the only place I can buy shoes anyway.

Not for shoes. My wide feet need a fitting.

A fitting doesn't help me at all because no one carries shoes that fit anyway. You can measure all day but if you can't buy them, it's just a waste of time. Measurements don't give the right answer anyway, so I bought until I found something that fit. I've bought the same shoe every time for the last decade, or more. I have the same size and model of shoe in four colors now.
