OT: Please Shut Up!

So this morning, the DJIA dives around 600 point and then recovers into positive territory. Then Geo. Bush goes on TV to make an announcement about the state of the economy and the market heads straight back down again.

Isn't there some way that we, or someone else, can keep him away from a microphone for the next couple of months? Maybe finish reading 'My Pet Goat' to some first graders?

Both McCain and Obama must be panicking right about now, realizing that one of them is going to have to fix whatever mess Bush leave behind.

It's not Bush's mess. If it's anybody's, it's Clinton/Pelosi/Reed/Frank's mess.

Clinton/Pelosi/Reed/Frank wasn't speaking this morning just before the market tanked.

But the Dow is up about 200 points on the day.

I invoke failure to look at the data.

Absolutely, the republicans tried to fix this many times in the last seven years, only to have the democrats knock them down. It started with Carter, and was powered by Clinton.

Do you have a credible reference to read about these attempts?

It's rather hard to see how the administration could not drive the improvements needed in the Federal Reserve.

Were they the ones who promised to bail out the wheeler-dealers from bad bets?

But he has done considerable damage in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now he's saber-rattling at Pakistan!

Only 4,000 or so Americans dead, many thousands of locals dead, at a cost of $587,938,420,429.00 and counting.

The point is, they're ALL crooks and have no business in any position of power, but the sheeple keep swallowing their bullshit.

Cheers! Rich

Up for the day?

More like down 128 at closing.

I see the data in real time. I have a ticker on my desk. The DJIA started down 697 points (on bad news from Asian markets overnight) and was just climbing into positive territory. Then Bush went on TV. It took the market most of the day to shake that off and try to recover.

Bush opening his mouth was the only event at the time the Dow turned around.

Dubbya s the one in power at the moment.

No, it is becuse they are not in power at the moment, and haven't done something demonstrably stupid in the last few years that has actually damaged the world.

Dubbya is the one creating the problems at the moment - it would be a pointless diversion of effort to waste time bashing people who haven't been in a position to create a disasterous mess for the past few years.

You obviously don't understand about prioritising your efforts.

The war has flushed $500 billion dollars and counting down the crapper. The Democrats hadn't had a majority in congress since 1994 so they can't be given the blame for the current problems with the economy by any body except a one-eyed Republican fanatic.

Clinton had to cope with a Republican majority in Congress during most of his presidency - he'd have to have been a miracle worker to get them to pass anything that would have prevented the current mess.
