(All my present A/V is 18 years old :-)

So I looking for receiver recommendations.

Is that really a problem? Our flat-screen TV takes multiple HDMI inputs (perfect for the Blu-Ray and the XBox Kinect), and we take the stereo audio out from the TV and pipe that into our Onkyo receiver (4- speaker, 100Wpc, bought off Craigslist for $50 last month).

Do you need all that HDMI video switching capability?

What I do (with a VIZIO TV/2 HDMI inputs and much older audio than yours) is to do the video switching with the TV controls. Then route the TV's analog audio line out into an old Sansui receiver/amp.

That reminds me, today one of our young employee's got a call from his live in girl friend, indicating that she was upset about something and was contemplating in taking out (destroying) the big screen TV, lap top and a couple of other things he likes.

So he left in a hurry for home. Later we got a text message indicating that he didn't make it home in time. All that she threaten to do, she did! :)

Oh well.

This Philips 55" set only has HDMI and "digital" audio outputs.

My present A/V stuff (circa 1994) has only RCA jacks. ...Jim Thompson

Yeah, oh well... is he planning to sue her?

I guess she's going to be looking for a new apartment, huh.

He can at least salvage the hard disk in his laptop...
