OT: Aw s....

Finally knocked my venerable TI-60X calculator off the desk one too many times and gronked the display :-(

Any idea where I might get another? Or an equivalent... I need hyperbolic functions COSH, TANH, ATANH, etc.

DON'T recommend an hp... reverse polish is for... >:-} ...Jim Thompson

I have a bunch of HP32 SII calcs. They're pretty good, reliable, good battery life, all RPN, available on ebay. And amazingly, on Amazon too.

The original HP35 was still the best. Somebody should clone it. It wasn't programmable, but nobody needs a programmable calc any more.

I liked my HP34c; the programmable feature came in real handy when I had to refer often to a tabulated integral from X to infinity of K_5/3... It could also solve an equation for an unknown, which is handy if you get tired of graphing diode/resistor loadline intersections.

Not a HP35 clone, but if you would accept a HP42 instead:

available for Windows and Linux, also for smart phones.

HP sorta "upgraded" the HP35 with the HP35s. It is more like a cleaned up version of the HP33s. It was advertised as a memorial to the original HP35 from 35 years before. I have one, use it, and don't like it. It allegedly supports both RPN and algebraic notation (without an "=" button), but I only use RPN: HP35s bug list, which seem to be permanent:

For Jim, I suggest either buying another TI-60x or buying the latest model from that series so as to avoid learning a new system or calculator. Start here: Looks like the TI-36x Pro is the current equivalent model: There are others that do graphing, which might useful:

Ordered one from eBay

My conclusion, too. May order one of those as well, so I can learn its quirks at a slow pace... apparently it "hides" hyperbolic functions....

If I need graphing I just use PSpice Probe.

Amazing how much one relies on a calculator ;-) ...Jim Thompson

Some day I may get a smart phone, in which case something like that would be cool.

My Casio Rock is indestructable, and I have to charge it about every two weeks.

I got one, hated it, gave it away. It's a sad, cheap Chinese parody of the original.

Polish people turn out to make great plumbers and carpenters and mathematicians. A Norwegian lady told me that the Poles do all the real work there, because the locals have forgotten how.
