Can one? What would I need to access the FPGA fabric? Assuming I ever get my board... I suppose I'll need to acquire some recent Xilinx IDE.
The "Epiphany thing" sounds like what you have been advocating, for the last few years. Many cores, a core for each task etc. Now you can *buy* one, you are not interested? :)
I don't have an application for it, on a little board like that. The ZYNQ has two 600 MHz ARMs and lots of FPGA fabric, plenty for a small embedded app.
I'd like to see a desktop-type OS that ran on a multicore machine, with one core per task and one CPU just to manage things. Done right, it would be reliable and secure.
Our embedded apps are already reliable and secure.
Epiphany seems limited to niche application number crunching, not more general computing.
