Just a thought about Car Radios

I don't live in the U.K anymore where the Radio is relatively good withplays,documentaries and comedy shows as well as good music. Where Ilive there are wall to wall FM channels with ads every 5 mins - it'sterrible and unlistenable. (like the TV!) To add insult to injury myMP3 FM radio got nicked this week! If I buy a new one the chances itwill go the same way. However what about this...Since FM radio is just adverts nowadays over here is there a market fora cheap amplifier that amplifies say an IPOD or the like. It would costvery little and not be worth stealing - it would not even have anycontrols - just a black box. Nothing worth stealing any more since theIPOD goes with you when you leave the car. Of course you can take thefront cover off your FM Radio but then you still have the hastle of howto play your IPOD through your Radio amp - with a transmitter and soon. I have found you get intereference this way so a cheap amp woudl bethe answer.Naebad

I had Ford products thru 1977, an LTD. That was the final straw... everything that could go wrong on that car DID.

Since then I've only owned Nissan products, 280Z, 280ZX, several Sentra's, Maxima, Frontier PU, Q45.

The Q45 has 130,000 on it and just had its first cost-out-of-my-pocket repair... the air door controller died... plus I did the biennial replace-all-hoses-and-belts-before-they-die-in-the-heat routine... $1193 :-(

I recently bought a 128MB flash MP3 player with built-in FM transmitter. The whole thing with USB cable and ear buds was about $45. I went to BestBuy to get an additional (type-A to mini 5-pin B) cable; $32!!
