Does a DSPIC ESD sensitive?

I need to troubleshoot a circuit board haivng a DSPIC30F5013. Making the continuity measurement on the DSP pins and the chip resistors on the PCBA, I am worried that I might have introduced ESD to the PCBA making DSP chip defective in some way.

Can anybody simply explain to me whether ESD has the immediate effect on the DSPIC if I make measurement without making the Ground potential of the PCBA and Mutlimeter the same as the potential of my body??

Best Regards

Any chip is ESD sensitive. The probability that you messed anything up (unless you left a charred spot on your finger) is low, but you never know just what'll blow up a chip.

Best to use all due ESD precautions.

Do you need to implement control loops in software?
"Applied Control Theory for Embedded Systems" gives you just what it says.
