im designing a cardioid pattern at 2.4GHz, null based measurment.very few articles dwell on this topic especially in the microwave region. essentially, the cardioid pattern is a result of the mixture of a figure eigth and an omni radiation.im thinking of using a simple monopole(triangular patch) and a dipole(coplanar waveguided slot). these are my questions,
- is using a power combiner(wilkinson divider) with the monopole and dipole as inputs the correct way of producing the cardioid pattern?i
- are there any other methods on how to combine the patterns?
- how about the spacing or relative distances between the feedpoints of the monopole and dipole?
