Battery charger project?

Hi
I'm looking for a microcontroller based battery charger project to build my own battery charger.
The charger should be able to charge SLA, NiMH, NiCd etc. at high currents and for high cell count (14 - 20 NiMH cells).
Could anyone point me to an existing project I could contribute to?
