NumLock on at Raspbian Stretch Boot.

Hello all,

Does somebody know how I can swith on NumLock automatically after booting in Raspbian Stretch Linux 2018 at the Raspberry Pi 3B+ ? Now I have to do that manually after each startup boot. Ofcourse I switched on the Keyboard Leds in the Panel Preferences => Panel Applets => Keyboard LED. When I press the NumLock Key, I see the figure 1 highlighted there, so that works ok manually.

I could not find it in Preference => Mouse and Keyboard Settings, nor in Raspberry Pi Configuration => Localisation => Set Keyboard.

I am sure there should be a place where it can be configured by default, somewhere in a configfile or so? The same goes for CapsLock if needed. Does somebody know where? Thanks in advance.

Greetings from Henri.

Assuming you're using the desktop rather than console, install numlockx.

It USED to be very simple: uncomment one line in /etc/kbd/config. Now with systemd you need a university degree to figure out the keyboard settings. I have one but I still gave up.
