Latest system updates!

Hello All!

Since I updated the box with the current-ish set of updates I have lost screen output - screen says no connection.

Have no issue logging in via ssh but would like to use the gui for some Cobol development using Heirloom's cobol compiler that translates to Java but there again that has its issues as well.

Any one any ideas as to why and yes I plugged the hdmi cable from the Pi to another in use screen and that does not respond so it is Pi related. And just in case tried another HDMI cable.

Did you, perchance, do 'rpi-update'? That updates firmware and has been known to break things from time to time.

Nope, did not even know of it so not done unless it happens with a apt update; apt upgrade.

Oh you can say that again !

The latest update/upgrade broke the pi NOIR camera*.

Unlessyou have hot-plud option in the config.txt file set, you must boot with the screen you are going to run with, as the boot process gets the screen parameters.

I have a Pi running KODI that is connected to my theater system via HDMI from the Pi to the theater receiver. Without hot-plug, I havebooted up the Pi while the inout was not the Pi and whne I selected the PI later, I could not get a picture to come on.

I have learned to select the PI as input on the receiver and the tv as output, then boot up the Pi. Then it has the opportunity to read the screen parameters. After the Pi is booted up< I can then select the cable box as inout and eatch TV. If I then want to watch movies off my local server, I can select the Pi and go from there.

You may already know this, but it is not widely known.
