CA-Certificates, issue solved

Hi all,

maybe this is of interest for other people here, too. So, just for info:

On one of my Raspbian installations I wanted to create https-based data access to outside. Unfortunately this did not work for some reason.

When trying to connect to a distant apache server, using curl https://... then this was terminated with "77, certificate error" like shown in

I have a second machine, nearly identically configured, and there it worked. I compared the relevant directories, here /etc/ssl/certs, but left and right side looked the same.

So, I checked, if this was a curl-only problem, but since lynx and w3m also failed getting the URL, the "root cause" had to be looked for somewhere else.

Finally I gave it a try and removed ca-certificates package. Only this single one without dependencies, and reinstalled it.

I watched downloading, installing *AND* setup / configuring. And -- bingo! -- after that, https worked.

So, during the former installation attempt, obviously ca-certificates package had been installed and all the files were there, but it seems that the final step, configuring, failed for some reason.

If someone comes across the same error, be encouraged to have a look there, also.

Best regards,

Markus
