64Gbyte flash memory - hot stuff, unfortunately

Notepad2 does highlighting; but for cr/lf conversion I use SciTE.

I haven't use Textpad for a few years. I now use Notepad++ which was better than Textpad, allows EOL conversion and runs on Ubuntu (called Notepadqq). I think it also runs under Raspbian but I haven't tested.

Most of the time I use git for sharing files between windows and linux, it does EOL conversion automatically.

OK, no worries. Rather a strict policy, but in light of the colander- like nature of Windows, understandable.

You and I know that running psftp.exe as a user (not administrator) is unlikely to result in harm, but if it's that or your job...

It seems to me you'd have a case for complaining to your line management that they're not providing the tools for you to do your job effectively.

No extra software needed for Windows to run FTP. In File Explorer just type the FTP address for example:

ftp://192.168.1.1:2121/

and run e.g. File Manager HD on your phone. I use this all the time to transfer data from my PC to my phone. I expect it would also work for a Raspberry Pi but I've not had occasion to try that.

Please google the difference between ftp and sftp.

I'm aware of the differences, but the original question was FTP, if I recall correctly. So why not simply install FTP on the Raspberry Pi?

IIRC there is no raspberry pi involved in the scenario under discussion. It is all about a disgruntled employee who has to use vi because he is coding for an AIX target using windows as a desktop and no one will let him do otherwise than edit the fiules on the remote machine.

If he had any nous at all, we would realise that he could in fact edit the files on windows and then cut and paste the text into vi...if that was the only way.

But he is one of life's self styled victims, and would rather complain about his world than change it.

Thanks!

If there's no Raspberry Pi involved perhaps it's off-topic here!

Our astronomers used a 1905, rather similar, and were quite proud of being able to run three universes at once in it with only 8 words left over (the unit of allocation was 64 words; all three got similar amounts of CPU attention). The machine had features not usually supported nowadays - a compartment in which the engineer could store his lunch, and an assembler instruction "OBEY".
