RE:Makita Charger

If there is such a difference in the battery type then why does Makita make a combo charger. If they can do it than there must be a way to change the electronics of a perfectly good NICAD charger . I just wanted to know how it can be done. There are some smart guy that read these posts . Thanks

There are plenty of chargers that can do both Ni-Cads and NiMH. To find out the chips for those simply do a Google - but be prepared to spend some time. All IC makers produce PDFs of their spec and include circuit suggestions. Plenty of ready made chargers available too. But if you want one for a specific battery like one from a cordless drill you might have to buy from the maker - or be prepared to modify.
