Not to mention that in 1954 Toronto had a hurricane visit...I was a wee lad at the time, but I recall the stories told afterwards.

It seems that not long before hurricane Hazel dropped by the city fathers were developing the cities ravines, considering that they didn't seem to have any real use. After Hazel they were left to act as they always were supposed to act - flood funnels down to lake Ontario!

One Nantucket resident died due to rip currents generated by the storm, beaches here on the South Shore are under a high surf advisory today.
