It'll get you a pretty piece of paper, but there is no substitute for hands-on experience. You'd do better to take a course at your local college or uni as long as it involves a practical element.

I started as a mobile installer in the late 70's. Already had electronics in the blood, knowing how to solder basic understanding about principals I was selected for some advanced on the job training. Within a couple years I had surpassed my mentors. I have trained techs fresh out of school. One I remember couldn't solder two wires together. Having a diploma won't land you a job necessarily. You'll still need some pretty extensive training and someone willing to give it to you.
