Storage Verification Engineer--- FC/SAS Interface Protocols Job Summary: This position is for a Senior Fibrechannel and SAS Interface Protocols Engineer in the Storage Engineering Verification Team who will be responsible for testing and verifying the design functionality of our storage shelf firmware, including bug fixes and new features, and supporting Data software. The focus will be on lower level Fibrechannel or SAS protocol testing, and characterizing the behavior and the interactions between the Shelf Firmware, Data software, Adapters and device drivers, RAID stack, disk and enclosure management, controller failover, I/O path and SAN/Fabric system management functions. The individual will work closely with our storage partners and development teams to develop the appropriate test plans and test cases for verification efforts, review and approve partner pre-testing plans, and then lead and coordinate the early look and final release testing efforts.

Essential Functions: The Senior Fibrechannel and SAS Interface Protocols Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to: =95Researching and documenting interface protocol testing requirements from the engineering design specifications, functional specifications, or firmware policy documents. =95Initiating new test case designs, testing methodologies, testing procedures, and developing test plans for testing new firmware releases, features, products, and technology. =95Conducting Verification tests, providing timely test results and test data, capturing appropriate test logs, and documenting problems in our problem data base. =95Evaluating and analyzing shelf firmware feature design proposals and firmware policy settings based on early code drop discovery testing. =95Defining requirements for fault injection test points and bugged hardware. =95Developing unit test and verification test plans, test metrics, and test reports. =95Working closely with our development teams and storage partners on problem duplication efforts and bug triage efforts to resolve issues found during Engineering testing. =95Working with customer support to include customer found issues in product test plans, conducting TOI=92s on new features, or facilitating data mining or data gathering efforts for customer related issues or escalations. Requirements: =95 The qualified candidate should have at least 8 years of development functional testing experience in a storage array embedded firmware environment, working with Unix based platforms. =95In-depth understanding of SCSI, Fibrechannel and SAS interface communications and protocols. Other interface experience with SATA, ISCSI, and Infiniband helpful. =95 Hands on ability to analyze, debug and diagnose problems from looking at FC analyzer or SAS analyzer trace data. =95 Software test development and automation knowledge using Perl. =95 In-depth understanding of storage HW, storage SW, device drivers, and disk drive subsystems. =95 Understanding and experience in code debug tools, and code coverage tools. =95 The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organized presentation skills. Deliverables may include BIOS, Bootloaders, System Management (BMC) firmware, or utilities. Development environments include Linux, Windows, and various embedded development environments.
