TV antenna aimed out window

If you installed a UHF TV antenna in your attic, and the attic had a window which you could have the antenna aimed through toward the transmitter, would doing so afford any benefit to reception? Or could it make it worse (i.e. lead content in glass -- old house)? Or neither?

Probably would not make much difference unless you have aluminum or steel siding. Vinyl siding, hardboard, or real wood are pretty transmissive at VHF and UHF frequencies.

Things that screw with your indoor antenna's performance: Metal (including foil-backed insulation) Stucco (metal lathe and high water content)

As Don said, most building materials are pretty RF-transparent.

I've read that a typical house roof with no metal (eg wood and tiles or shingles) reduces the signal by about 6-12db.
