Not sure but a Google search for "A733 transistor" or just "A733P" reveals these two sites:

The above is a circuit for ?? and it shows Transistor Q301 (top right corner) marked as an A733P. The symbol is for a "PNP Transistor"

The above is an "equivalents table" (do a search for A733) and you find "2SA733P1" in the table for " PNP Si Transistor, AF Power"

Looking at the table I see that it suggests a BC178 might be a suitable alternative to the 2SA733P1.

The BC178 comes in several different packages. If you don't get any better answers to this posting try replacing the broken transistor with a BC178 in the same package as the broken one.

It's a 2SA733P, which is a very common Japanese PNP transistor. The P on the end means it's the gain range of 200 to 400. The 95C is probably the date code. The Japanese transistors have the collector on the center pin, which is different than most U.S. or European transistors. See URL

If you use a BC556B or similar as a substitute, you will have to put some insulating sleeve over the collector and cross it over the other lead. The 2N3906 might work if you select one for a gain of over 200. But you could probably find a real 2SA733 in some discarded monitor or TV.

I came across this in my googling. At the very bottom, they have a small strip of a picture of a bare shouldered blonde, with a scroll bar on the right to get you to try to scroll the picture to see more. Tricky bastards are just trying to get you to click on the image to take you to another web page, so they'll get credit for a click- through and make a few cents. Tricky bastards need a lesson in truth in advertising.
