Need help with aCD4059A "Divide-By-N" chip

I need help setting up this to an N factor of 1000. I am trying to lay this chip out on a PCB. I have the manufacturer data sheets, but I don't understand them.

Any help would be great.

Never used the part myself but it doesn't look too hard....

This looks like one way...

N=One Thousand choose Mode=10 (eg Ka=1, Kb=1,Kc=0)

N/Mode=One Hundred so try with

J4-J1=0

J8-J5=0 J12-J9=0 J16-J13=1 (eg 0x0001)

To verify

N= 10 x (1000x0 + 100x1 + 10x0 + 1x0) + 0 = 10 x (0+100+0+0) +0 = 10 x 100 = 1000

Sorry if I've mixed up my indians :-)

I was curious about this IC, so I bought one to play with.

I am not great at the Varification on this chip, but I built up the circuit as you have written it below. Checking it out with my signal generator, with an input of 100,000 hz it has an output of 7 hz. Not the 100 hz as expected.

I Determined that for Mode Select 10: Pin 14, Ka = 1 Pin 15, Kb = 1 Pin 11, Kc = 0

Pin 3, J1 = 1 Pin 10, J13 = 1

And all other Jams = 0

For a Normal high pulse output, Pin 2, Latch should = 0

With this connection and 100 Khz in, I get 100 Hz out.

Now can Someone Varify this with the math?

Take care.........Gary
