defibrillators

How does a defibrillator work, what's inside? And how does it affect the body, ameliorate a heart attack?

Hoping there's a cardiologist in this group, as well as engineers -

OUside of the electronics that prevent it from discharging into a working heart, it is just a large capacitor . You hear on the TV shows the doctor calling out 'Charging 200' or Charging 400. That is the ammount of power the capacitor is charged to . The heart will often go into fiberlation which mostly means it is not contracting and letting loose in a normal manner but just randomly viberating. The Capacitor discharge clamps the heart mussel and lets it restart in a normal beat if it works.
