Can we ad external cache memory to a celeron cpu ?

How can we ad cache memory to a celeron cpu on a Compaq PIII motherboard or even any PIII motherboard ?

By designing a cache controller and adding it to the board. Very expensive, tedious, hard to install and not cos effective at all.
