Migrating Project from Xilinx ISE 4.1 to 8.1?

Got a project from a consultant using ISE 4.1 but of course the latest download is 8.1.

If it matters, target device is XC95144-XL.

There is no obvious way to open this older project. Oddly, ISE doesn't seem to create ANY file associations in Windows.

I do have all of the original pieces from 4.1, but it's not clear to me which of these are critical input and which are output, log, or intermediate files.

Any clues?

Xilinix has a library of old ISE versions to download. Look araound...

Oldest one available is 6.1, and Xilinx website is overloaded or I don't know what, but I'll keep trying.

It doesn't work even if you create a new project in 8.1 with the design and constraint files?

Follow (Home)->Design Tools->ISE Classics->(Register & ) Download) and find an offer for ISE WebPACK v. 3.3 - v. 7.1 and even older tools
