Universal XELTEK SuperPro Programmers - recommendation

Hi All in embedded land,

It's time for us to upgrade our universal programmer after our very, very old BP programmer died. Due to budget restrictions we are now looking at competitively priced XELTEK programmers.

Specifically the SuperPro SP5004G (4head) and SP5000 (head)

We program 50k+ per annum through the programmer (all sorts of micro's a memory)

QUESTIONS ========== Q1 Does anyone have any experiences they can share regarding programmers from XELTEK.

And I would be extremely interested if you had experiences with SuperPro SP5004G and SP5000 programmers.

Q2 Was Xeltek a split of from HiLo Systems many years ago

Q3 How would you compare Xeltek and HiLo?

Q4 Apart from Hi Lo and BP are there any other heavly duty medium size programmers you suggest/ recommend.

Thanks in Advance Joe

This is somewhat old ... but a Xeltek SuperPro burner failed with some device types (GALs). On discussing the problem with Xeltek, it became clear that that burner didn't follow the part spec. It worked "most of the time", but if you got a batch of parts near the limits, it wouldn't program properly. Xeltek refused to fix the(ir) problem. We got a burner from Tribal, which worked very well - but I don't know if they are still in business, nor if they produce the kind of burner you need.

Good luck!

Thanks for your information Which Xeltek programmer did you use? 3000?

And how long ago was the issue? recently or more than a few years?

More. Just a thought that you might query Xeltek to see if they now follow the semiconductor specs.

Yes, I get the hint... your suggesting they don't follow the mfg'ers programming spec or get them qualified by the mfg'er.
