Hmm, I will agree with the last part about the owners if I see Kenny get a more permanent contract - which is far from sure in spite of his miraculous influence since he stepped in again this year. :-)

Sadly, that actually appears to be the case. And, it seems to be creeping into other "populations". Maybe the prevalence of email, text messaging, etc. forcing people to use shorter words/phrases/concepts? When was the last time you saw someone "prepare an outline"? :-/

Ha! I wonder...

I've been reading (too much) non-fiction lately. A point was made that "recent generations" (I have lost track of the X, Y, tweens,

2020, etc. distinctions) have "been rewarded for ATTENDANCE, not ACCOMPLISHMENT" (emphasis mine).

I've had dealt with "kids" in stores who were unable to measure

10 inches ("I would like this piece of wood ripped in 10 inch strips, please" "OK. What's 10 inches?" while holding the tape rule out to me). I had a young cashier look at me dumbfounded when I refused to give her the $40+ dollars she was trying to charge me for the two $9.95 items I was purchasing: "What's wrong with this picture?"

I guess you can look at this as a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY! One could start selling $10 items and *charging* $20 for them without fear of being "caught"! :-/

(sigh) And these are the folks who'll be "running things" when we are old and gray...
