please help regarding dsp vc arm board processor vision applications

hi

can anyone help me how can i port my image processing application which runs currently at 2ghz p4 on a

1) dsp which does not require computer 2) arm board processor

how much will a dsp/arm board cost for a computation power equal to

4ghz intel P4

i would be highly obliged if somone could help me thanks in advance

Porting depends on what 3rd party libraries are you using and if they are available for target platform.

Why to port at all? P4 can be embedded too and the price may be lower than any comparable DSP system and porting cost will be zero.

i want to install this dsp in a car which would captures images from a camera and does computer vision stuff on it to avoid collissions with other cars. So i need a compact product as i cannot install pc in a car. i have no idea which can suit the best a dsp or arm board or nething else? can you help me? can you please give me your phone number if possible? i will call you and ask my doubts? i would be highly obliged.

its really urgent for me to know the approximate cost of a module which can be installed in a car without any pc which has computation power equal to 4ghz pentium 4 processor. just give me a rough idea of cost 200 euros ? 300 ? 400 euros or dollars?

Never done this, so cannot provide any reliable answers.

But I shown you the way, perhaps one of many. You have to walk it.

PC will not fit, but how about laptop ? You may get laptop mainboard for fraction of laptop price. Or search for laptop with broken LCD. Try eBay, local computer stores.

Software is bloat , else they could not copyright it .

P4 has over 500 opcodes in its instruction set . Intel did this to help ppl copyright .

ARM is reduced instruction set , has maybe 20 ?

P4 runs its clock at very hi speed , but the CPU throughput is not directly related .

ARM at 400Mhz is equal to a 2ghz Pentium .

The ARM has 14 index registers to point to your code P4 has 2 . STONE AGE !!

Image processing software will be much shorter in the future , and easier , faster .

Im building ARM 9 ( game box GP2X , Linux 2.4 ) It runs at 1 watt , 2ghz Pentium takes 20 watts . Hook a DigiMate+HDD and a clever keyboard and i have a pocket PC !

GP2X has 1024 by 768 , 24bit color , 2D accelerator chip . USB "UHP" 1.1 , UDP 2.0 ( NetChip2272 I.C.

At first , ill stay with Linux in 2MB PSRAM , so it will boot in 0.2 seconds . Later , write a Forth .

I think software will obsolete , very soon , and all will be rewritten to ARM .

No one likes to change horses , midstream , but ARM will take over all computing .

can you guide me as how difficult is to port my program on dsp. do i have to rewite my whole program again or is their specific compiler for transferring c++code to dsp

I have worked on a TI DSP (DM642 I think) for an image processing application and the compiler (Code Composer Studio) would accept C++ code.
