OT: An Enigma for sale

That was about generating Colossus algorithms, and he did NOT get the girl, may have disappointed a few, as girls was NOT his thing. Later criminal record on that issue.

Yes, that's why I'm saying that Hollywood documentaries are not the only documentaries with a comparable devotion to accuracy.

eBay has no way of knowing the legitimacy of the listing. Many historical objects are recovered from the junk from people who don't know what they had, according to the article about the guy who started GOT-JUNK company. eBay would be a legitimate way to liquify such finding. On another hand, there must be plenty of replicas floating around.

Btw. one can put a 1mil house of 6mil island on eBay but not an old computing machine ? ;)

Absolutely. Which is why many things get onto ebay bet get removed when eBay find out it is not being sold by the original owner.

Also AFAIK a lot of stolen stuff is recovered because it gets advertised on eBay... A very useful service.

Actually no. Enigmas are quite complex to machine and AFAIK there are no replicas about. There are quite a few of the real thing though.

You can put computers on eBay.. We just donm't know why this particular enigma was removed.

Yes they all make mistakes, and the only British one I have seen was a 'drama' going through the life of Alan Turing and did show him NOT getting the girl, and later criminal prosecutions.

In article , David M. Palmer writes

I think several places make new ones (or kits) so you can play with them apart from the many simulators .
