as a great place to begin learning about RTOSs. Source code is all available and it is sensibly explained too.

There are a great many RTOSs available to suit a wide variety of applications. Some have free source code and some have source code for people with deep pockets. Don't let anyone from microsoft try to persaude you that any of their OSs are real-time but they are one of the few in the marketplace that won't give you source at any price.
